Koittakaa vaan jaksaa -tempaus

Tired? Anxious? Pissed off? Just can’t cope? Teekkari Section is organizing the Koittakaa vaan jaksaa -tempaus, starting on November 10th and running until the end of the year.

Throughout the tempaus, we’ll organize various activities and events covering multiple themes that support students’ wellbeing — both in studies and in free time. Come join us and make it through the rest of the year feeling better! <3

Note: The tempaus schedule may still be updated!

Mind & Body

Your mental and physical wellbeing are the foundation for endurance. There are many ways to take care of your mind and body, but in a busy everyday life, it’s easy to forget them. It’s important to remember exercise, a healthy diet, and sufficient sleep.

The Mielenterveystalo website offers few help-self programs in English (a wide range of self-help programs are unfortunately only in Finnish) that provide support for different situations. These programs address symptoms, life situations, and mental wellbeing. They’re easy to start using.

If you’re struggling with your mental health or coping and feel you might need professional help, you can find different contact channels for various situations in the Student Guide. Don’t face mental health challenges alone! The best thing you can do for your mind is to take care of it and show yourself compassion, even when times are tough.

Study well-being

Sometimes studying can feel so heavy and demanding that you just can’t go on — deadline after deadline, endless group meetings, lectures piling up... How do you keep going when you just can’t? It’s important to give yourself time to rest and to do enjoyable things that make studying feel meaningful again.

Time Management

  • Does it feel like there’s never enough time, or you’re not even sure where it all goes? Find your own way to plan your days. You can use either a paper or digital calendar. Maybe to-do lists or a bullet journal could be your thing?

  • It’s good to take breaks from studying, but when you do study, focus on that alone. There are gamified apps that block distractions on your phone while you concentrate — preventing those “oops, I just spent an hour on TikTok” moments (for example, Forest or Focus Friend). The Pomodoro technique can also help you structure your study time.

Letting Your Brain Rest

  • Exercise is great for both your body and brain — it boosts alertness and keeps your body functional. Walking alone or with a friend is an easy and inexpensive way to add activity to your day. You can also find yoga or stretching videos on YouTube to follow whenever it feels right for you.

  • Pay attention to how much time you spend on screens. Do you have screen-free moments in your day? Challenge a friend to reduce screen time with you and see how it affects your relaxation.

  • Remember to take breaks from studying and commitments! Reserve time for yourself or with friends just to hang out and do something fun — no one can keep going without stopping.

Personal Wellbeing

Alongside your studies and work, it’s important to make time for yourself, relaxation, and hobbies. If you’re constantly pushing yourself without breaks or downtime, you’ll eventually burn out. Many students find that studies, work, and student organization activities take up all their time. Sometimes it’s worth reviewing your workload and considering whether you could reduce it.

Taking care of your body and mind improves your overall endurance. Spending time with friends and loved ones can also help you rest and recharge.

Togetherness & Helping Others

Relationships are an important part of wellbeing, so remember to make time for friends and loved ones even in a busy schedule. Talking about your worries can help too, sharing really does lighten the load <3

Looking for a new hobby? Volunteering can be a rewarding and wellbeing-supporting activity, while also letting you help others at the same time. Some people see university organization work as volunteering, but there are many opportunities outside the university as well.
