Positions applied for: Minister of Communications

Hi! I’m Reetamari Lohvansuu, or Reettis, and I’m applying to be the Minister of Communications for Tampereen Teekkarit in 2026!

I’m a third year IT student, but I’ve also been an active student volunteer before becoming a teekkari, when I studied political science at the city center campus. This year, I’ve been the social media and communications officer for the Teekkari Section, and it has been an absolutely amazing job! My main responsibility has been communicating about the Section’s activities and managing the tampereenteekkarit Instagram account, not forgetting our other communication channels. I’ve worked with communication related tasks in my guild’s board and various committees, as well as when I worked as Wapputirehtööri in spring 2022. To conclude, I have a wide range of experience with different communication channels and needs.

My previous volunteering roles include tutor responsible, equality officer (a couple of times), chairperson of an advocacy organization, and the previously mentioned Wapputirehtööri. When it comes to events, annual ball nakkis and tempaukset are especially close to my heart! I’ve organized campaigns like TiTe’s Movember 2024 and the October Lunch Campaign 2025, which both relied heavily on communication and encouragement to participate. Communication has been a common thread throughout all these experiences and it inspired me to apply for the Teekkari Section’s communications and social media role for 2025. In the Section, communications have played a wonderfully versatile and creative role. You can really see your own impact and there’s room to learn and develop new practices or play around with fonts.

Tampereen Teekkarit is an important community to me. I am not only from TiTe but I feel at home in being “tamperelainen teekkari”. We celebrated the 60th anniversary in a big and visible way, and I want to see our teekkari community remain lively and visible in our 61st year too, even if things aren’t painted with the broadest brushstrokes. This year, we’ve had excellent cooperation with TT’s board, workers, and the Teekkari Section TJ, so I would definitely like to continue helping to strengthen and develop the “TT Family” concept next year. The seamless cooperation within the TT Family shows through in our community as success and joy.

In addition, this year we’ve developed new ways to coordinate communication within TT, so it would be great to keep experimenting with those and work towards building a more stable division of duties in the sector of communication. This would ensure Tampereen Teekkarit communicates effectively not only about our own activities but also in consideration of our member organizations’ needs.

As a volunteer, I’m precise and exact. These are qualities that benefit a Minister of Communications, since information can sometimes come in large volumes and must be passed on quickly. TT’s communication channels are an important member service and it is important to keep those running. The channels help our members organize their own events and build this Tampere teekkari community. You’ll get a Minister of Communications who works with a community-first mindset, full of enthusiasm and a strong desire to do things together!

Pinja Varis

Energy technology, 5th year

Positions applied for: Chairperson

Hey there!

I’m Pinja Varis, a fifth-year YKI student and the current chair of YKI. You’re currently reading my application for Chair of Tampereen Teekkarit.

This year, I’ve really felt like I’ve been able to express myself in my position and it’s actually been my favorite one so far. I’m applying for the board of Tampereen Teekkarit because I genuinely want to make an impact and work for the good of our entire teekkari community. As chair, I’d get to provide opportunities and tools for other board members and that’s been the best part so far: running things in a way that lets others grow in their roles and succeed!

If I were to describe myself as a chairperson, I’d say I’m open and empathetic, people-oriented, and encouraging. I believe things should be done with that famous twinkle in the eye keeping the atmosphere relaxed, while still getting things done and moving forward.

I’ve gathered quite a range of experience from different positions and organizations. Having worked in diverse environments, including on project-based tasks, gives me a solid foundation for working in bigger organization. Under Tampereen Teekkarit, I’ve been active in the Fuksi and Guild Councils as well as the Teekkari Council.

To make things easier to read, here’s a list of my positions so far:

YKI Chair 2025

Spinni Secretary 2024

Teekkari Council Member 2024

EMU Fuksi Officer 2023–2024

Spinni Communications responsible 2023

YKI Mocha apprentice 2022

YKI 32nd Anniversary Team Lead

Community and togetherness are core values for me, and teekkari culture has been something truly incredible. These are the reasons why I genuinely want and am ready to put in the work and dedicate my time to Tampereen Teekkarit, to you, my dear fellow teekkaris <3 You can reach me most easily on Telegram @pimbe, or just come say hi if you want to know more!
